Aqua Skye Jewellery Care
Caring for your jewellery is a must. I'm sure we all have a sterling silver necklace we haven't worn in a long time because it doesn't look as beautiful as when we purchased it.
Or how about a ring with beautiful stones that lost their shine. We simply ignore these items and haven't taken advantage of wearing it that time when it wouldn't of looked perfect with that V neck cashmere shirt. It's normal that our jewellery loses its brilliance and shine; some reasons include hand-lotion, perfumes, body sweat or perhaps a few tiny scratches from basic wear and tare. This doesn't mean we can't wear these items. The following steps of care and cleaning tips will bring back your precious pieces to life. It's a must!!!
Rings
- Avoid wearing rings when cleaning, gardening or performing sports activities. - When washing your hands away from home, don't' place your rings by the sink. Remove them and place them onto your necklace or place in a pouch, purse or pocket. This step will prevent your items from touching dirt, water or soap. Also, it will avoid the loss of your precious rings. - Evade rubbing against any other metals or hard surfaces. Gold and silver are both softer metals and it will wear them down. - Taking off your rings while doing any manual labor will help keep the shank strong. The Don't‘s:
- Do not wear your jewellery while performing any sports activities. - Avoid sharp blows. - Chemicals; nail polish remover, - Long exposure to sunlight - Heat and cold - Do not go swimming with your jewellery, chlorine or sea water will cause damage such as discoloration. - Do not wear necklaces to bed. - Direct contact with make up and perfumes will harm your jewellery. The Do's:
-Store your jewellery in a soft line box or a pouch, a tarnish preventative bag or wrapped individually in a soft piece of felt, cloth or air tight bag. -Air and light cause silver to tarnish, keep items in a cool, dry, dark place -Keep pieces apart to avoid scratching or tangling -Clean your jewellery regularly |
