Oscars 2016 – Jewelry Style on the Red Carpet
Posted: Mar 02 2016
I’m back. Sorry for the delay. I was changing my blog from Blogger to WordPress and I am still working on my older posts. My most recent posts are up to date so it was time to go live again! I’ve missed most of the Fall Fashion Week’s and the award ceremonies. But since Paris Fashion Week is just starting, I figured I would wait and send you a recap next week of all the trends to highlight for next Fall.
Today, I will be redundant with a Jewelry post from the Oscars. I know you probably had enough of the best dressed red carpet looks but like I said, I’ve been in a transition phase. Let me know what you think!
I’m starting off with my two favourite pieces of the Oscars. Olivia Wilde’s choker was on trend. She stood out from the rest of them. I could have shown you Naomi Watts’ Bulgari diamond necklace or Tina Fey’s but they were uninspiring for me. They were lavish and expensive but not as stylish as these two ladies. Charlize Theron is as stylish as they come. She looked ravishing in her red Dior slinky gown. I did love the long cluster pendant from Harry Winston and the accompanying diamond ring on the index finger giving this overall look a certain edge. (Photos courtesy of Getty Images)
I fell in love with Olivia Munn on Newsroom – I loved her character and her style (on and off the show). Her Forevermark diamond snake bracelet is simple but elegant against her all orange Stella McCartney gown. And what to say of the graceful Julianne Moore – she never misses a step in her Chanel couture gown. She’s both fashionable and elegant adorned in Chopard jewels. I do love the chunky cuff. Speaking of Chanel, actress Daisy Ridley wore their Fine Jewelry on the red carpet.
For some reason, Rachel McAdams won my favourite earrings of the Oscars. They are by no means over the top nor are they considered statement but their sleek lines won me over. Her whole look was polished and she stood out for me, in my opinion!
As much as I loved Kerry Washington’s Versace black leather and white gown, I didn’t really love the Harry Winston diamond earrings. I would have steered away from clear diamonds and maybe brought something edgier to the table like linear earrings or black diamond.
Priyanka Chopra is a goddess. She’s so beautiful. I wish she had brought more of her roots in her style of dress with more opulence in her jewelry choice but the placement of rings was cool enough. (Photos courtesy of Getty Images)
If you follow me you know that I love statement jewelry but I was underwhelmed this year with the lack of originality in jewelry styles on our favourite celebrities. Giuliana Rancic’s earrings were at least original in design and Sofia Vergara’s earrings matched her look.
Saoirse Ronan’s mismatched Chopard earrings was interesting but the earrings themselves resembled ones you could find in a department store counter (Sorry Chopard, but you missed the mark!).
I’m a big fan of Cate Blanchett with her magnificent Armani Privé gown but again not impressed by her Tiffany & Co diamond earrings. They bring me back to my jewelry store and all the brides seeking the same kind of earring for their special day. To most, this is divine but to one who is used to making a real statement with her bijoux, I am left feeling I want more. Boo hoo for me, right!!! lol!! (Photos courtesy of Getty Images)
