Paris Fashion Week - Inspired and Not-so Inspired Runway Looks - Balmain - Lanvin - Chanel - Saint Laurent

Posted: Oct 02 2012

I've been casually following the Paris Spring runways this past week and I fell in love again with Balmain's exquisite detailing, Lanvin's expert tailoring and Roland Mouret's structured, sexy looks. Saint Laurent (this new name isn't jiving with me because it only reminds me of our famous Montreal street; Saint Laurent) was unexpected in its western flair. The western look is coming back but didn't Moschino and Roberto Cavalli do this last year? It was very bohemian - a little been there done that, in my opinion. I won't take away from the beautiful, flowy fabrics and detailing but it left me feeling meh. And then Chanel happened - wtf? There was nothing forward about this line - it was a regurgitation of all the ugliest silhouettes of the past. Seriously. Except for a few pieces, the overall line was disappointing and uninspiring. Once again, just my opinion!

Balmain - perfect!

Roland Mouret SS2013

Celine Spring 2013 - minimalism at its best.

Gotta love the sleek perfection from Lanvin SS2013!

Lanvin changing it up with modern-day ruffles.

Lanvin, captivating us with his superb fabrics and divine accessories.

The injection of jewel-toned colors was divine (Lanvin SS2013).

Thierry Mugler's structured but flowy silhouettes are always so, so cool!

Love the fringe-y necklace but the black long dress with golden detailing is passe. And the animal print sheer cape is so Cavalli.

A T-Strap heel with a suede fringe skirt is ugly and you know it. Again, totally uninspired.

A stunning fringed maxi skirt with sheer blouse still leaves me wanting more from newly branded Saint Laurent brand.

OMG! I'm literally throwing up in my mouth. This is beyond ugly - how could you send this down your runway, Karl? maybe, it's time to change things up at Chanel. Seriously, I can't fathom any reasoning behind this look.

I actually like the jacket and skirt here - very youthful with the clusters of pearls.

My favourite piece in the whole show is this bag - i totally want it!!! oh YES!!!
